These acoustic panels are designed to cut down echo and general room noise. They can be made using readily available materials from any home center and only requires basic woodworking tools. Several panels can be made in a few hours.

The digital download includes an 8 page PDF with step-by-step DIY instructions on how to build and install the panels. Plus I have a supplementary video on youtube to help you through the process.

This is a Beginner level project, and requires basic tools.

Materials

  • Two 8ft 1x4 boards per panel (a 1X4’s true dimensions are 3/4” x 3.5”)

  • Canvas drop cloth (a 6ft x 9ft drop cloth is enough for 4 panels)

  • One 3.5” x 15” x 47” sound proofing insulation batt per panel (common band names are “Thermafiber” and “Rockwool” also known as mineral wool.)

  • 2” wood screws

  • 2 1/2” wood screws

  • 3/8” staples

  • Drywall toggle bolts (optional)

  • Handi-Shims (Optional)

Tools

  • Table saw, track saw, jigsaw, or circular saw

  • Miter Saw (optional)

  • Drill

  • Countersink drill bit

  • Staple gun

  • Scissors

  • Gloves

  • Respirator or dust mask

  • Stud Finder
